The headline could read “Sea Ray topped the charts for the second month in a row,” but this month we’re publishing a different ranking.

Instead of ranking the top boat brands by the number of used-boat listings on Boat Trader during the 12-month period that ended April 30, in this issue we based the ranking on the number of views those listings drew from boat shoppers. Nonetheless, Sea Ray was the top brand again, with 23.1 million views, three times the 7.1 million views of Bayliner boats — about the same multiple as Sea Ray’s 10,000 listings last month, compared with Bayliner’s 3,000. Chaparral ranked third with nearly 5 million views. The rest of the top 20 showed significant variation between the number of listings and the number of views, with larger, more cruisable brands such as Carver, Regal and Silverton generating a significant share of interest, as well as strongly branded lines such as Formula and Chris-Craft. Other cruiser brands that cracked the top 20 included Cruisers Yachts, Hatteras and Tiara.
