“We talk a lot throughout the year about the topics we should cover, what attendees are interested in and what I see that we should focus on,” Christi Kleiner, director of education for Docks Expo and editor of Marina Dock Age magazine, told Trade Only Today.
Kleiner said the conference typically has about 20 sessions. “This is the 10th year producing the show, and when we first started, there might have been seven sessions,” she said.
Some subjects are covered annually because of updates to items such electrical and fire codes. Marina insurance is also an important topic. Kleiner said she plans to touch on artificial intelligence and electric propulsion.
“Once we get the proposals, we’ll go through and figure out what works and what doesn’t,” Kleiner said. “I do think that electrical codes need to be updated and we have a lot of speakers who come back every year.”
The event includes a trade show with about 150 exhibitors, but Kleiner said education is the main focus. “For our attendees, the education is very important,” she said. “We want to make sure they leave with new knowledge.”
