The European Boating Industry this week held its 2023 general assembly at the headquarters of the Jeanneau yard in Les Herbiers, France. The organization welcomed four new members, renewed its leadership team including new president Robert Marx and acknowledged the service of outgoing president Jean-Pierre Goudant.
“I am honored to take on this responsibility and lead EBI with my colleagues in the Council and our secretariat at a crucial moment for our industry,” Marx said in a statement. “On behalf of our industry, I sincerely thank my predecessor Jean-Pierre Goudant for his four years as president and four years as vice-president that have been very successful for our association.”
During the conference, several decisions for the future of the association were taken including the acceptance of three new full members and one sustaining member by unanimous decision.
A highlight was the inclusion of the Ukrainian Maritime Cluster, which supports all the marine industry members in the besieged country. Other new members were HISWA-RECRON, the Dutch boating association, the Swiss Boat Builders Association and The Yacht Harbour Association. EBI now has 22 members in 17 European countries.
Goudant retires from his duties after having served the association in various roles for more than 45 years. Also leaving are vice president and treasurer Carlos Sanlorenzo of Spain, Jurij Korenc of Slovenia and Christopher Scott of Poland.
Elected to the council were German president Marx, Anne-Marie Bouweraerts of Belgium as vice president and treasurer, Jean-Paul Chapeleau of France as vice president and Piero Formenti of Italy was named to the new position of vice-chair, supporting the president.
