Firecrown Media announced the promotion of Lydia Mullan to editor-in-chief of Sail. Mullan has been with the magazine for nearly eight years, most recently as managing editor.

“It’s been incredibly rewarding to watch Lydia grow into both an accomplished bluewater sailor and an award-winning marine journalist,” Daniel Harding, editorial director, said in a statement. “Her deep respect for and understanding of the Sail brand, along with her strong digital skill set, will no doubt allow her to grow and expand the brand while staying true to its mission.”

Mullan is a longtime sailor with a passion for offshore racing. She was the race commentator for this year’s Transpac and Marblehead-Halifax races, a 2024 Magenta Project graduate, and the media manager for Cole Brauer’s viral circumnavigation.

“I’m so grateful for my predecessor Wendy Mitman Clarke’s mentorship over the past three years and for the lessons learned from all the editors I’ve had the opportunity to work with,” Mullan said in the statement. “I know how much this magazine means to our readers, and I’m both humbled and excited to be charting our course forward.”

Sail and Soundings Trade Only are sister magazines under the Firecrown Media Group umbrella.
