Two Florida men were sentenced to federal prison after they reportedly made millions of dollars in a scheme to export outboards to Mexico, according to a report by cbs12.com.

U.S. district Judge Kathleen M. William on April 29 sentenced Antonio Perez Toledo of Fort Myers to 48 months in prison, and Brian Perez of Homestead to 40 months. The defendants were ordered to forfeit the proceeds they made and pay restitution to identified victims.

The conspiracy in which Perez Toledo and Perez were involved took place between 2015 and 2019, according to the report. They used two Miami-based, freight-forwarding companies to export more than 600 stolen outboards valued at more than $12 million to Mexico, according to the Department of Justice.

The co-conspirators reportedly put false serial numbers on the engines before shipping them. Others charged in related indictments have been convicted and sentenced for their roles in the conspiracy.
