Electric-boat manufacturer Forza X1 acquired property in McDowell County, N.C., where it will build a new factory. The purchase closed Sept. 27.

“This milestone represents a significant step forward in realizing Forza’s vision to create a facility dedicated to producing world-class electric boats that will revolutionize the marine industry,” Joseph Visconti, executive chairman and chief of product development, said in a statement.

Forza said the facility will initially cover 50,000 square feet and expects it to be as large as 100,000 square feet with the capacity to produce 1,000 boats a year. The company says it will use closed-mold, composite boatbuilding technology. The overall investment is expected to be more than $10.5 million, with as many as 170 jobs created.

Forza started working on the relocation in July 2022. It currently operates out an 8,800-square-foot industrial space in Old Fort, N.C., as well as the Twin Vee facility in Fort Pierce, Fla.
