Garmin announced that it entered into a definitive agreement to acquire JL Audio, a privately held company that manufacturers audio equipment for the marine, automotive, powersports, home and RV markets.
“JL Audio’s extensive audio experience will create new opportunities to provide premium audio features across a broad range of our markets and products,” Garmin president and CEO Cliff Pemble said in a statement.
JL Audio is headquartered in Miramar, Fla., and employs more than 600 people. The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of the year and is subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions. Financial terms were not disclosed. Existing JL Audio products will continue to be supported post-acquisition.
