Germain Motor Co., a retailer with dealerships in Florida, Ohio, Michigan, Arizona and Montana, announced that it acquired SI Yachts.
Previously known as Staten Island Yacht Sales, SI Yachts was founded in 1964 by Frank Bongiorno, who established what has become the longest-operating Viking dealer. Bongiorno will retire after more than 60 years.
“We couldn’t imagine a more perfect opportunity and partnership to carry on the legacy of Frank Bongiorno, first started in 1964,” SI vice president Jay Hendrix said in a statement. “The resources, technology and team that Germain has is a complement to what we are building at SI Yachts.”
Germain Motor Co.’s acquisition of SI Yachts comes two years after CEO and partner Zach Germain established Germain Yachts and was awarded the Pardo Yachts territory in southwest Florida. Germain Yachts also acquired the former Molly’s Marine Service in Naples, Fla.
Germain Motor Co. also represents such automakers as Porsche, Jaguar, Land Rover, BMW, Mercedes and Lexus.
“We are excited to have acquired the SI Yachts name, brands, marina and current operations team,” Germain said in the statement. “Short-term plans include revitalizing the Freeport, N.Y., location, growing the Montauk and Sag Harbor markets, and continuing to support the new yacht sales, brokerage and after-sales service that has made SI Yachts a leader in the industry.”
SI Yachts carries the Viking, Princess, Absolute, Prestige, Pardo and Valhalla brands. The company has five offices in New York, with additional locations in Jupiter, Fla., Newport, R.I., and Old Saybrook, Conn.
