Gillen Yacht Services of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was named a U.S. dealer for Smartgyro gyroscopic stabilizers.
A family-operated business, Gillen will supply and install Smartgyro’s SG series units.
“Smartgyro has solved many of the problems found in current gyro-stabilization systems, which should provide vastly superior customer satisfaction over the long haul,” Dave Gillen, president of Gillen Yacht Services, said in a statement.
The compact stabilizers have a modular design and can be assembled inside a boat and serviced while on board, according to Italy-based Smartgyro. (Yanmar owns a majority stake in the company.)
Smartgyro offers SG40 and SG80 models, and said it plans to expand its lineup with the addition of SG10 and SG20 units for smaller boats.
