Camper & Nicholsons had added Gordon Hui as senior sales broker in its Hong Kong office, the company said in a statement.
Hui — owner of Victoria Marine Asia — joins the 239-year-old company after serving for almost two decades as chairman of Sunseeker Asia.
Starting in Hong Kong in 2003, Hui was a leading figure in the burgeoning Asian yacht market, representing Sunseeker in India, the Maldives, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Korea, Japan, and mainland China, where he played a vital role in developing the Chinese dealer base.
During his tenure, more than 235 yachts were sold across the region, 131 of these in Hong Kong, including 15 longer than 100 feet, Camper & Nicholsons said.
Hui said he’ll continue to build his relationships with both European and Chinese-built brands.
“I hope to look after my existing clients and to help them upgrade to all the latest exciting brands and their new models, perhaps even recommending my favorites from Ferretti Riva Group, Sanlorenzo and Princess etc.,” said Hui. “For clients looking for 37m-plus metal or alloy yachts, we hope to introduce buyers to the latest hybrid systems available from Baglietto, Heesen and CRN.”
“It’s also important to monitor the production of Chinese brands for the local market…certain brands such as Galeon, Bali Catamarans and Lagoon are fantastic for emerging markets such as The Maldives, Cambodia, Vietnam and Indonesia,” he added.
