Groupe Beneteau announced it is accelerating its push into the preowned market, expanding its NEO refit program from two models to eight across three of its brands. The program, which refurbishes and modernizes used boats directly through the manufacturer, now covers Lagoon, Beneteau and Jeanneau models after an initial phase built around two Lagoon catamarans.

NEO is part of Groupe Beneteau’s environmental strategy, which the company said rests on four levers: naval architecture, energy management, materials and extending boat life through refit. The program supports the group’s target of cutting Scope 3 carbon dioxide emissions 30% by 2030, compared with 2022 levels. Refit work can include replacing engines, saildrive systems, sails and rigging, along with work on sanitary and mooring systems, composites and interiors.

CEO Bruno Thivoyon framed the program as both a sustainability play and a growth opportunity in the preowned segment. “With NEO, we are acting both to extend the life of our boats and to make them more accessible,” Thivoyon said in a press release. “The preowned market is an important part of the customer journey, and we have many strengths that enable us to bring greater value to it.”

The company sees significant room to grow, noting that for every new boat sold, an estimated three to five preowned boats change hands. The NEO expansion was part of broader strategy announcements made at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September. Groupe Beneteau plans to launch 66 models between 2025 and 2027.
