Audio electronics manufacturer Harman International yesterday announced that it is assembling Harman Kardon Marine, a new group within its OEM special markets business. The group introduces the Harman Kardon brand to the marine space, along with existing Harman International marine brands Infinity and JBL.

“We are proud to take what we’ve learned in our award-winning automotive, home and consumer electronics audio products and offer that same incredible level of quality and technology to the marine market,” Kent Jopling, global senior manager of special markets marine and powersports at Harman International, said in a statement. “Our three brands, Harman Kardon, Infinity and JBL, each have their own place in the boating ecosystem.”

Harman Kardon Marine is already installing systems in boats built by launch partner Cobalt, which displayed several models that have the new sound systems at the recent Miami International Boat Show.

Harman International is a wholly owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co.
