The Northwest Marine Trade Association, in its weekly WaterLife Wednesday bulletin, announced the sale of Hewes Marine Co. and the Hewescraft aluminum boat brand to its long-time vice president and senior director, David Honeycutt.

“After a thorough evaluation to identify the best new leadership option for HMC — a family company that’s been in operation for 80 years — David Honeycutt and his family were selected. David has been a member of the company’s leadership team since 2005 and has acted as the senior director for the past 10 years,” the NMTA reported.

“The stability that David Honeycutt and his family will provide, and the strength of a transition like this to someone who already knows the business inside and out, are great advantages,” Dave Hewes said in the report. “And the company will remain locally and family-owned.”

Added Honeycutt: “I am humbled and encouraged by the Heweses’ confidence in me and my family to be the next steward of this company. The long-term success of this company, the Hewescraft brand, our employees and this community are the reasons my family and I want to be a part of this for years to come. This is an exciting time. We are growing.”
