A team of Michigan investors has acquired Humbug Marina and JP’s Waterfront Restaurant where the Detroit River meets Lake Erie in in Gibraltar, Mich.

The group — composed of Justin Rise, Robert Molnar, Ron Thomas and Joshua Cade — formed an entity called Rise Gibraltar and took over management of the two businesses earlier this year. The acquisition will be completed after a transitionary phase that allows regulatory transfers of licenses and approvals needed to operate.

“As a team of downriver natives, we understand the location and culture that makes Humbug and JP’s a special, unique place,” Thomas said in a statement.

The marina has 500-plus slips, rack storage for more than 200 boats, indoor and outdoor winter storage, brokerage, service, hoist up to 35 tons, bath houses with laundry and a store with fuel and pumpout services. The site will remain home to Sunseeker’s Boating Club, which has a clubhouse with bar service, an outdoor recreation area and member dockage.
