Oceanco CEO Marcel Onkenhout received the International Superyacht Society’s Excellence in Innovation Award at the group’s annual gala in October during the Fort International Lauderdale Boat Show.

In his acceptance speech, Onkenhout explained that for Oceanco innovation was finding better ways to do things — being more creative in design, finding new ways to build yachts and creating a positive working relationship.

The ISS previously honored Oceanco in 2008, when the builder’s 82-meter Alfa Nero received the award for best poweryacht larger than 65 meters, and in 2010, when Oceanco’s 85.5-meter Sunrays received an award in the same category.

The ISS represents the superyacht industry. Each year it presents peer-reviewed design and leadership awards that recognize individuals and companies for expertise, leadership and dedication to raising the standards of design, construction, maintenance, repair and operation of large yachts.
