In collaboration with Suzuki Marine, Italian Sergio Davi this week completed a 10,000-mile voyage aboard a 38-foot RIB powered by twin DF300B outboards to raise awareness of environmental concerns.
Davi’s route began in Palermo, Italy, and ended in Los Angeles on Monday, Suzuki said in a statement.
The voyage encompassed the Atlantic and Pacific, four continents (Europe, Africa, South America and North America), and more than a dozen countries. An avid environmentalist, Davi worked with several Italian zoological institutions, and collected samples and data from remote regions to bring pollution and other issues to the fore. Davi also used the stops he made to educate the public about the need to protect ocean ecosystems.
“We applaud Sergio’s courage and the global attention he brings to environmental issues during his epic adventures,” said Max Yamamoto, president of Suzuki Marine USA. “Sergio’s focus on the health of our shared marine environment is in keeping with Suzuki’s global Clean Ocean Project initiative and our ongoing companywide efforts to reduce plastics and plastic waste in our daily operations.”
