PHIL BLAGG PHOTOWales-based accessories manufacturer Makefast is opening it first U.S. location, in Preston, Md., later this year with support from the Welsh government.
The company employs more than 100 people in Newtown, Powys, and manufactures such equipment as retractable sunroofs, awnings and swim platforms.
“Demand for our products has surged, and we saw the opportunity to increase our sales in the USA by opening an office there,” Makefast U.K. finance director Chris Brown said in a statement. “We don’t see demand slowing down anytime soon, and our new base will enable us to keep up with this pace and meet the growing order books of American boatbuilders.”
Makefast was founded in 1974, initially producing safety hardware for lifejacket manufacturers in the U.K.
