The Marine Trades Association of Maryland held a Career Day during the recent Annapolis Powerboat Show for marine technology students from Anne Arundel County’s Center for Applied Technology South school.

The CAT South students toured the show asked various MTAM partners questions about careers in the boating industry.

“My favorite part was the vibe around the boat show, as everyone was really friendly and excited to share their knowledge” student Vincent Line said in a statement.

MTAM partners provided meaningful insights about working in the business. Some students were surprised to learn how many small businesses comprise the marine trades in Maryland, in addition to the yacht brokers and marinas they expected to see at the show.

“The students and partners all agreed that it was a great day to learn about career opportunities within the industry, and it generated a new level of excitement about growing the marine trades workforce,” Emily Decker, workforce development coordinator at MTAM, said in the statement.
