Michael Medart, president and CEO of distributor Medart, died Oct. 27 at the age of 70.

Medart is a wholesale distributor of small engines, outdoor power equipment parts and accessories, and marine parts and accessories.

Medart became CEO and president in 1994. Under his leadership, the business grew to seven locations and more than 250 associates, serving thousands of customers across the central United States. He promoted his son Griffin to president in October, representing the fourth generation of family leadership.

“Michael Medart was a devoted family man who extended that same sense of family to everyone who worked alongside him. He led by example, building relationships based on trust, respect and a genuine desire to see others succeed,” Andrew Carlson, vice president of Medart Marine, said in the obituary.

“As Griffin Medart leads our 114-year-old company into its fourth generation of family leadership, we remain committed to carrying forward Michael’s values, his legacy and his vision for Medart Marine and Medart Engine. He will be deeply missed, but his influence will be felt for generations to come.”
