Mercury Marine announced that it shipped its first Avator 7.5e electric outboards. The 7.5e is the first of five Avator models announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in January.

The Avator 20e and 35e also are expected to be released this year.

“This is a historic and exciting day for Mercury Marine as we continue to deliver on our commitment to being the industry leader in both internal combustion products and electric propulsion,” Mercury Marine president John Buelow said in a statement. “We look forward to all our customers around the world having the opportunity to experience Avator and to have the brand be prominently displayed globally.”

The Avator 7.5e has a swappable 1-kWh lithium-ion battery developed in partnership with Mastervolt, which is part of Brunswick Corp.’s Navico Group. It’s rated at 48 volts and is IP67-rated for water resistance. It has a color display that tracks battery level and range, and is compatible with the Mercury app for iOS and Android devices.

Mercury said U.S., ANZP (Australia New Zealand Pacific) and EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) customers and distributors will start receiving the Avator 7.5e over the next few weeks.

Mercury added that it will make two more electric product announcements by the end of the year.
