The Marine Trades Association of New Jersey Foundation named three students the recipients of this year’s education scholarships.
Allison Derrick of Manville, N.J., received a half scholarship to the Automotive Training Center’s Marine Technician Program in Warminster, Pa. Jack Kennedy of Brick, N.J., and Nicholas Scalabrini of Point Pleasant, N.J., each received the $1,500 Boating Industry Scholarship, awarded to students pursuing careers in the marine industry.
“The future of our industry depends on investing in the next generation of marine professionals,” MTA/NJ executive director Melissa Danko said in a statement. “We are proud to support these students as they build the skills, knowledge and experience that will strengthen New Jersey’s recreational boating industry for years to come.”
Since 2006, the MTA/NJ Education Foundation has awarded more than $40,000 to students and nearly $15,000 toward training programs, tools and equipment for schools.
