The New York Yacht Club named Garmin the official electronics supplier for the American Magic syndicate’s challenge for the 37th America’s Cup.

“Our team is made up of over 100 people across Newport, R.I., Pensacola, Fla., and Barcelona, all of whom constantly monitor and maximize performance in a marine sport,” Terry Hutchinson, skipper and president of sailing operations for NYYC American Magic, said in a statement. “To achieve the level of sustained high performance required to compete, it is essential that we utilize the best marine electronics in the industry.”

Added David Dunn, Garmin senior director of marine and RV sales: “The NYYC American Magic team is utilizing Garmin electronics and technology as they train and compete at the highest level and in the most challenging conditions. It’s an honor to be a part of this storied program in their quest to win the America’s Cup.”

American Magic will spend the winter in Pensacola practicing and tuning its foiling AC75 sailboats. The team will eventually relocate to Barcelona, where the America’s Cup competition will be held in September and October 2024.
