The 2025 Newport International Boat Show announced an expanded schedule of educational programs designed to engage boaters of all experience levels. Set for Sept. 11–14, 2025, along the Newport, R.I., waterfront, the show will offer a range of classroom sessions, hands-on workshops and on-water instruction.
“With the help of our industry partners, these educational programs are geared toward providing a welcoming community for new and seasoned boaters alike,” Jocelyn Emory, director of strategy for the Newport International Boat Show, US Boat Shows for Informa Markets, said in a statement. “There’s truly something for everyone.”
Among the highlights is the return of the Cruiser’s Classroom, presented by the Annapolis School of Seamanship, with sessions covering navigation, maintenance, offshore cruising, and more.
The International Yacht Restoration School will host all-new Tech Talks during the show. American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) expert and Boat of the Year judge Ed Sherman will lead two separate workshops, covering lithium batteries and electronically controlled diesel engines. Marine composites veteran Bob Lacovara will also conduct a workshop on gel coat tech and repair. Each course costs $125 and includes one admission to the show.
Additionally, Freedom Boat Club will offer 90-minute “BoatClass” sessions at the Newport Harbor Hotel slips, designed to give novice boaters essential on-water experience under the guidance of certified captains.
