The National Marine Electronics Association is collaborating with Veterans Florida to offer military veterans free admission to its Marine Electronics Conference in Orlando, Fla., Sept. 18-22.

Admission includes training sessions, and basic and advanced installer sessions are GI Bill-approved for reimbursement.

“A veteran with basic technical understanding, a strong work ethic, military discipline and a commitment to learn could walk into our conference on Monday morning knowing little about marine electronics and leave Friday with the basic knowledge, connections to our membership, placement assistance, and training to start work the next Monday,” Mark Reedenauer, NMEA president and executive director, said in a statement.

“Florida has the largest marine industry of any state, along with the largest membership demographic for NMEA. As we talk with member companies, finding quality employees is their top challenge, and has been since 2020,” he added.

More than 200 companies will attend the conference, and NMEA said many have job openings. NMEA will have representatives on-site to introduce veterans to member companies, and private meeting rooms will be available for on-site interviews.

Veterans Florida will conduct an educational session for Florida NMEA members who are looking for employees.
