The National Marine Electronics Association released a new version of its NMEA 2000 standard, version 3.000.
The new version updates the main document language and adds new PGNs and an upgraded Certification Tool, the association said in a statement yesterday.
All amendments and corrigenda from the prior NMEA 2000 standard have been rolled into the update, which includes lighting, outboards, bow thrusters, anchor windlasses, crash detection and more.
“The volunteer NMEA 2000 committee members spent countless hours ingesting, digesting and reviewing the technical minutiae that is needed to get it right,” said Mark Oslund, NMEA director of standards.
Manufacturers are required to certify new products to the updated standard within 18 months, although NMEA encourages them to do so before August 2023.
