The National Marine Manufacturers Association launched a grassroots campaign to rally support for a bill that seeks to amend the standard that sets requirements for the amount of ethanol that is blended into the overall fuel supply.

A Boating United campaign is urging boaters to contact members of Congress to support H.R. 704, bipartisan legislation that seeks to amend the Renewable Fuel Standard.

Reps. Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., Peter Welch, D-Vt., Steve Womack, R-Ark., and Jim Costa D-Calif., introduced the Renewable Fuel Standard Reform Act, which would reform the biofuel mandate, last week.

Welch called the original renewable fuel legislation “a well-intentioned flop” in a statement announcing the bill.

BoatUS also urged boaters to support the bill.
