Tariq is the author of the picture book Fatima’s Great Outdoors and the founder of @brownpeoplecamping, an initiative that advocates for diversity in outdoor recreation. She is an advisory council member of the Sierra Club’s Outdoors for All Campaign and the Outdoors Alliance for Kids, from whom she received the 2023 Leadership Award.
“Ambreen brings a decade of government experience from her work with the Department of Labor, Environmental Protection Agency and White House,” ORR president Jessica Wahl-Turner said in a statement. “Ambreen’s curiosity, collaborative nature and drive to support outdoor recreation businesses and enthusiasts have propelled her success as an entrepreneur with Brown People Camping. We are thrilled to bring her deep background in workforce, diversity, equity and inclusion, and communications to ORR’s team and the outdoor recreation economy.”
