Swedish diesel outboard manufacturer OXE Marine AB has entered an agreement to supply boatbuilder Nimbus Group with its engines. Nimbus Group’s brands include Alukin, Aquador, Bella, Falcon, Flipper, Nimbus and Paragon Yachts.
“Nimbus Group is one of the Nordic’s leading boat manufacturers and the fact that they have included our engines in their range is a great acknowledgement both for our technology and our products,” Anders Berg, CEO of OXE Marine, said in a statement.
“It is crucial that Nimbus Group can offer our customers a broad range of boats and engines,” Jan-Erik Lindström, CEO of Nimbus Group, said in the statement. “We are pleased with the collaboration with OXE Marine because it means we are broadening our range and giving customers the opportunity to also choose diesel-powered outboard engines.”
OXE says its outboards have lower fuel consumption and reduced carbon dioxide emissions compared to gas engines of equivalent horsepower. In recent sea trials on a Nimbus T11 with twin OXE 300 hp diesel outboards, the company said the engines were 50% more fuel efficient and provided a faster top end and cruising speed than equally rated gas outboards. When the same OXE300s were run on HVO100, a type of biodiesel fuel, OXE said that net C02 emissions were reduced by 92% compared to the gasoline engines.
“By choosing a diesel-outboard powered outboard from OXE Marine, the customers can benefit from seeing significant reductions in both operating costs and CO2 emissions,” Berg said in the statement. “OXE Marine’s technology can play an important part in the transition towards a more sustainable marine environment, which unlike other alternatives, is widely available for use already today.”
