Active Interest Media’s Marine Group recently hired David Pollard as art director and Mark Fusco as an associate editor for PassageMaker magazine.
Pollard, a 25-year creative and publishing veteran, will manage PassageMaker’s design strategy across all channels, including print, Web and digital publishing. He most recently served as Yachting magazine’s art director, where he won numerous awards for design excellence and his illustrations during his 10 years there. In his new job, Pollard will work closely with editorial staff to ensure PassageMaker continues to engage its passionate community.
“I’m very excited to work with someone as talented as Dave. He’s a strategic thinker who possesses a deep understanding of branding and creating the best magazine possible for niche audiences,” PassageMaker editor-in-chief John Wooldridge said. “He fits right into our strategy of hiring the best people possible to form a team that is fully engaged in creating the power-cruising authority.” Pollard will be based in the Marine Group’s Essex, Conn., office.
Fusco joins the AIM Marine Group as PassageMaker’s new associate editor. In addition to his print production duties, Fusco’s extensive video production and photography background, complemented by a strong understanding of digital media, will enable the brand to produce deeper components to all stories.
“I’m ensuring that, when possible through attrition, we look at bringing in younger talent that will help us create the next generation of marine journalism editors who have a profound understanding for print and digital media,” said Wooldridge. Fusco, who also will be based in Essex, is a passionate boater and has cruised extensively throughout the Northeast.
