Port Harbor Marine, which owns several marinas and dealerships in Maine, has purchased Baert Marine of Middleton, Mass.

Both companies are celebrating 50 years in business. “It just made a lot of sense,” Port Harbor president Rob Soucy told Trade Only Today. “We feel we can grow their market share with the Grady-White product, and we can add additional products we have available to us.”

In a statement, Warren Kelly, president of Baert Marine, added: “Both Bill Baert and I are extremely proud of the 50-year legacy we leave behind with Baert Marine. We are proud of our award-winning team, the quality of our service we consistently provide, and the incredible relationships we have developed with our customers.”

Baert and Kelly will retire during the transition, and Soucy said he and his management team hope to retain as many Baert Marine employees as possible. “Everyone that wants to stay can stay,” he said. “With every acquisition, there’s someone who falls out, but we’ve told everybody keep doing what you’re doing, and we’re going to add our flavor to it.”

Port Harbor is the exclusive Grady-White dealer in Maine and New Hampshire and now adds the region north of Boston.

With the acquisition, Port Harbor will become a dealer for Sea Hunt, and Key West and Cutwater boats will be offered at the Middleton location.

In 2024, the Baert will rebrand as Port Harbor Marine.
