The Ferretti Group released its first sustainability report on corporate operations. The report, “Leading A Sustainable Future,” covers the Italy-based conglomerate’s efforts in environmental impact, innovation, supply chain and human capital. “If we want to continue to grow steadily as a market leader, it is essential to address the economic, environmental and social impacts produced by our activities on the local areas where we operate,” CEO Alberto Galassi said in a statement. The National Marine Representatives Association is accepting applications for its $3,000 Marine Trades Scholarship, which is open to high-school seniors, as well as college and vocational students, pursuing education and a career in the marine industry. “We’ve awarded students working toward a wide range of careers, including boatbuilding, marine logistics, naval design and the Merchant Marines,” NMRA president Scott Kolodny said in a statement. Beaufort County Community College in Washington, N.C., will offer two new diploma programs for the fall semester: Boat Manufacturing & Service and Boat Building. Connor Jones, who previously worked for Grady-White Boats, most recently as a process improvement engineer, was named the school’s lead boatbuilding professor. “I grew up around boats,” Jones said in a local newspaper article. “So I decided to take my experience in the industry … as an opportunity to teach other people about it.”
