The Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation has added Billy Pope to its board of directors. He has overseen creative services and marketing of outdoor recreation for the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, writing for Outdoor Alabama magazine, and contributing to the organization’s website and TV show.
“We are pleased to welcome Billy Pope to our board of directors,” Dave Chanda, RBFF president and CEO said in a statement. “With more than 30 years of marketing and communications expertise, his insights will help drive innovative strategies to enhance participation in fishing, boating and their connection with outdoor recreation and conservation. His addition to the board will certainly elevate our national and local communications efforts related to conservation.”
Pope has been honored as the Conservation Communicator of the Year at the Alabama Wildlife Federation Governor’s Conservation Achievement Awards. In 2019, Pope took over the department’s communications and marketing section. He oversees communications and marketing efforts for state parks, marine resources, state lands and wildlife and freshwater fisheries.
