Kathy Latham, the co-founder of Latham Marine, died Jan. 9 of multiple myeloma cancer. She was 67.
Her husband, Bob Latham, started a mobile boat rigging and repair business in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and built the company into one of the most respected names in high-performance steering and accessory systems, according to a statement. Latham developed the sport’s first hydraulic steering system with a boat named Magic Gems, then won a world championship with the Man O’ War team.
The couple became a force in the high-performance boat world. Bob was the innovator and Kathy steered the business, according to the statement. Her “No Cash, No Splash” mantra for how the company conducted business earned her a reputation as a straight shooter.
A celebration of life is planned for a later date.
