Simrad Yachting, Amer Yachts and the Permare Group yard were recognized at the Cannes Yachting Festival for new technology designed to help skippers navigate waterways in the most sustainable ways.

The partnership’s Green Assistant technology, which earned a Coup de Coer award at Cannes, is linked to the problem of wastewater discharge near the coast. The system can automatically deactivate pumps if someone tries to discharge wastewater in prohibited areas. C-Map cartography, combined with electronics and information technology, becomes a tool to comply with the law. (C-Map and Simrad are part of Navico.)

“The initiative demonstrates a paradigm shift around ESG [environmental, social and governance] objectives in the yachting industry and underscores Amer,” Permare Group CEO Barbera Amerio said in a statement.

“I am very pleased to have been the first to believe in this project and to see Simrad implement it on our yachts,” Amerio added. “It demonstrates that a simple idea can become reality thanks to an exceptional partner with great sensitivity and motivation.”
