Boating Writers International yesterday announced the winners of its 2025 writing contest, which attracted 82 participants and 315 entries across 16 categories. Forty-eight winners (first, second and third place) shared $16,000 in prize money. Of the total winners, Firecrown Media’s marine group publications secured 35 awards.
Soundings Trade Only won two first-place awards in the Boating Issues, News and Analysis and The Business of Boating categories for editor-in-chief Gary Reich’s Making a Stand and Product Pipeline stories.
Sail magazine took 11 awards, Passagemaker secured six wins, Soundings placed six times, Anglers Journal and Cruising World each were recognized three times, and Boating, Power & Motoryacht, Saltwater Sportsman and Wakeboarding each won one award.
In addition, Firecrown’s marine group titles were presented with nine certificates of merit.
