Sunstream Boat Lifts announced that it has acquired Sarasota Boating World in Englewood, Fla., which sells boat covers, lifts, docks and other accessories.
“The acquisition of Sarasota Boating World will greatly assist Sunstream in expanding our SwiftShield automatic boat cover product line by in-sourcing the digital design and manufacturing of custom covers for SwiftShield, and will further enhance our supply chain,” Sunstream CEO Ken Hey said in a statement. “We look forward to expanding our presence in the Southeast region and supporting our dealers with more efficient access to Sunstream products.”
The digital cover technology that Sunstream acquired with the transaction allows dealers take 3D scans of a boat using a smartphone, upload them to create a 3D model, digitally design a cover, cut it and store the data for future replacement. The company said this could reduce lead times for covers, simplify measuring, improve fit and durability, and facilitate reordering.
