Turkey-based commercial vessel builder Yonca Shipyard is entering the sailing-yacht sector with the establishment of Mishi Yachts.
Founded in 1986, the yard, which specializes in composite construction, covers 474,000 square feet, with about half of that under cover, and has 180 skilled craftspeople. It can produce vessels up to 160 feet, and can also build in steel, aluminum and wood.
“Yonca is exceedingly well-known in defense and as the skilled builder behind other yachting brands,” chairman and yard founder Şakir Yılmaztürk said in a statement. “But we are branching out in the leisure sector. We are taking the skills and capabilities honed over 36 years and bringing it to superyachting in a new venture we have named Mishi Yachts.”
The builder’s debut sailboat designs are the Mishi 88 and Mishi 102. The yard has the capacity to build many as 20 naval vessels and 20 yachts a year.
