California passed an update to the Song-Beverly Warranty Act, under assembly bill AB2912, that could impact companies in the boating industry.

AB2912, which goes into effect July 1, requires the warranty period of a product be no sooner than the delivery date of a product to the consumer. Typically, limited warranties start from the date of the sale.

The National Marine Manufacturers Association said in a statement that it is encouraging member companies to review warranty policies to ensure they are in compliance.
