Vision Marine Technologies announced that it acquired industrial tooling to support the production of more than 10,000 battery packs per year.
The company has developed the VMT 700V DC power pack to power its E-Motion electric powertrain.
“Our voyage toward mass production represents a monumental milestone for Vision Marine,” founder and CEO Alexandre Mongeon said in a statement. “Through calculated investments in cutting-edge tooling and the establishment of a robust supply chain, we are poised to revolutionize the realm of pleasure boat electrification.”
Production of the battery packs is expected to start in July to meet increased demand for electric propulsion. The Canadian company has secured partnerships with a network of suppliers in Europe to mitigate potential production and supply shortages. The batteries will be produced in a new facility in Europe.
