Vision Marine Technology this week introduced the Phantom, a rotomolded, recyclable electric boat, at the Miami International Boat Show.

Vision said the Phantom costs 70% less to build than a traditional fiberglass boat, and that it can produce up to 300 units per year, with the potential to scale up to 1,500 units.

The company said in a statement that the boat can seat up to 10 passengers, and its high-density polyethylene hull can be recycled nine times.

Vision also announced an exclusive distribution agreement for Florida with Nautical Ventures Marine Group. The retailer has ordered an initial 50 units.

“We recognize a growing demand for rotomolded boats among our Florida clientele for several reasons. Their affordability enables entry-level ownership; they support both electric and gas motors, appealing to eco-conscious and traditional boaters alike; and their versatility makes the Phantom ideal for various activities from fishing to leisure,” said CEO Roger Moore.”
