Yanmar announced that it acquired Boatswain’s Locker, its West Coast distributor. The acquisition enables Yanmar to work more closely with customers in that region, in cooperation with Mastry Engine Center, and grow its wider recreational marine business, the company stated in a press release.
Boatswain’s Locker has been the exclusive servicing distributor for Yanmar Marine International on the West Coast, including California, Washington, Oregon, Alaska and Hawaii.
“We see this as a valuable opportunity and an important milestone for both Yanmar’s recreational marine business and the Boatswain’s Locker team. It builds on our strong partnership, aligns with our strategic direction, and supports our shared ambitions for future growth,’’ Wouter-Jan van der Wurff, president and CEO of Yanmar’s Marine Recreational Business Unit, said in the release.
Boatswain’s Locker is also a distributor for Yanmar’s Vetus business, which includes Vetus Maxwell, Flexofold and Smartgyro.
Yanmar said Robert Apted will remain president of Boatswain’s Locker to ensure a smooth transition.
