Azimut’s S6 has been installed on New York’s Times Square. The 59-ft. cruiser is being called an “installation” by the Italian builder, which is celebrating its 50 anniversary. Azimut is using the Times Square installation as the culmination of a month of a media blitzes and client cruises in the New York area. The company and its local dealer, MarineMax, have organized public and private events, cruises on the Hudson, along with appearances on television shows and radio talk shows. At the Nasdaq Impact Summit, a forum for sustainability initiatives, an entire session was devoted to the protection of the oceans, featuring some key players including Volvo Penta, Paola Lenti, Seakeeper, One Ocean Foundation and Azimut|Benetti. On May 14, a panel discussion on the role of art and design in contemporary lifestyle was moderated by New York Magazine design editor Wendy Goodman and chaired by Azimut-Benetti Group Vice Chair Giovanna Vitelli.

Azimut said that this is the first time in New York’s history where such a large yacht has been displayed at Times Square.

“The organization and production of this incredible initiative was made possible by the partnership with Design Pavilion and NYCxDESIGN, the annual event at which New York celebrates design,” said a statement. “The partnership between Azimut|Benetti Group and Design Pavilion confirms the company’s desire to continue to surprise and innovate the yachting sector, not least through alternative communication initiatives that illustrate the cornerstones of the company culture: refined universal design, constant evolution and ongoing technological research.”

Azimut says it has planned five international events in Dubai, New York, Cannes, and Hong Kong to commemorate its 50 anniversary. It will have a final event at its Avigliana headquarters near Turin, Italy, in December.
