Malibu Boats LLC has settled a patent infringement case the company brought against Go Surf Assist in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, Waco Division.
Under the terms of the settlement, Go Surf Assist will make a one-time payment to Malibu Boats, and will enter into a license agreement for the payment of future royalties for surf systems sold by Go Surf Assist using the licensed technology, Malibu said in a statement.

Malibu has a record of defending patented technology like Surf Gate. In early 2015, Nautique Boat Co. agreed to license the Surf Gate technology after a dispute.
In June 2015, Malibu filed a lawsuit against MasterCraft alleging that it had infringed on Malibu’s Surf Gate patent. That case went through various legal proceedings over the course of two years, when the case was ultimately decided in favor of Malibu in 2017.
At the time, the company said it intends to “vigorously defend its intellectual property related to wake-surfing systems.”
