Scout Boats yesterday announced at the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show that it plans to build its largest boat to date, the 67 LX. The boat, scheduled to launch at the Miami show next year, will have five 600-hp Mercury V-12 outboards for a projected top speed of 60 mph and range of approximately 500 miles at a 40-mph fast cruise.

According to CEO and company founder Steve Potts, the boat will be available in three models: the 670 LXF (Luxury Fish), 670 LXS (Luxury Sport) and 670 LXC (Luxury Cruiser). Pricing will start at approximately $5 million.

“When we came up with the concept for this boat in 2021, we called it ‘Project Everest,’ ” Potts said at the press conference. “This boat will be able to leave Charleston [South Carolina] in the morning and arrive in Miami the same day while providing the ultimate comfort for the owner/operator.”

Potts said work has already advanced on the hull tooling using five-axis routers and 3-D printing technology. The hull will be built with epoxy resin infusion and a carbon-fiber/e-glass layup.
