Navtronics announced the formation of Great Circle Group, a new entity merging the marine electronics services provider and Electronics Unlimited with entrepreneurs Damon Tassone and Michael Wexler. Based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and York, Maine, the new venture will be a national sales and service provider in the marine technology sector.

“We’re building the company we’ve always wanted to see in this space,” Tim Greer, president of Navtronics and now vice president of Great Circle Group, said in a statement. “With Great Circle, we can now expand our premium marine technology services well beyond our New England roots.”

Electronics Unlimited and Navtronics will retain their respective brand identities but will now operate under the Great Circle umbrella.

“As lifelong boaters ourselves, we’ve seen technology increasingly become core to the boating experience and understand the critical importance of reliable, expert service,” Wexler, co-CEO of Great Circle Group, said in the statement. “We also see tremendous opportunity to develop innovative service offerings that leverage vessel data, emerging technologies and enhanced connectivity.”

The statement said that the formation of Great Circle Group addresses the growing demand for sophisticated, reliable marine technology services in three realms: business operations, attracting technical talent and the scale to provide consistent, high-quality service across multiple regions.
