Fortescue Zero announced it will begin operations at a manufacturing center in Detroit — a former Ford auto factory — to produce a high-voltage battery pack that will be used in electric propulsion manufacturer EVOA’s high-performance powertrain.
The battery pack is the first product to use the Fortescue’s scalable battery module, which it said will deliver 30-kWh to 34-kWh, with fast-charging capability in less than 30 minutes.
“We needed an energy system that delivers the power to keep a wakeboat with a driver and at least seven of their best friends on plane, without issue, all day long, as this is our most demanding application. Fortescue delivered just that,” Mike Anderson, co-founder and managing partner at EVOA, said in a statement.
Fortescue expects production to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025. The company projects the manufacturing center becoming a production hub for automotive, marine and heavy-industry batteries, fast chargers and other green technologies.
