G.G. Schmitt & Sons has promoted Kurt Bender from executive vice president, marine hardware operations, to president of the company.
The family-owned business was established in 1951 to service the marina and rail-transit industries. It employs 180 people in three locations in Sarasota, Fla., Lancaster, Penn., and Summerville, S.C.
“Kurt brings 24 years of experience and wealth of knowledge in marine manufacturing and boatbuilding technologies,” Ron Schmitt, corporate CEO, said in a statement. “As the executive vice president of G.G. Schmitt & Sons, Inc., for the last three years, he has been dedicated to serving the customer, establishing a culture of teamwork, continuous improvement and operational excellence, producing the finest quality fabricated and superior cosmetically finished products available today.”
