The International Yacht Restoration School will hold an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. on Nov. 8 at its campus in Newport, R.I.
The event will be at Restoration Hall, home to the school’s 20-month boatbuilding and restoration program.
Those who attend will have an opportunity to observe students on the shop floor, meet IYRS instructors and participate in a question-and-answer session about the application process and financial aid.
On Nov. 15, IYRS will host a composites technology and marine systems open house at its Bristol, R.I., campus, also from 2 to 5 p.m.
The event will give career seekers an opportunity to see the school’s lab facilities, meet IYRS instructors and participate in a question-and-answer session on the application process and financial aid.
The composites technology program trains students in the theory and hands-on practice of working with composite materials, a method of construction that represents the next generation of building materials in many industries, including aerospace, construction, boatbuilding, automotive and wind energy.
The marine systems program teaches students to install, maintain and troubleshoot the onboard systems used on modern and classic boats.
Both programs are six months long and begin in March and September.
