KVH Industries announced the launch of the TracPhone LTE-1 global communications system, which is designed to provide Internet access up to 20 miles offshore in more than 150 countries.
With a 13.5-inch dome, the TracPhone LTE-1 Global is designed for those who use cellphones for Internet access close to shore. The system allows such applications as streaming HD video and music, voice, messaging and Internet browsing.

The system utilizes LTE Advanced (LTE-A) technology, which KVH said is faster than 4G LTE and builds on the TracPhone LTE-1 it introduced in 2018.
“With our LTE-1 Global, vessels in more than 150 countries — from a center console in Fort Lauderdale to a fishing fleet in southeast Asia — can experience Internet access farther offshore than would be possible with their cellphones alone,” COO Brent Bruun said in a statement. “The affordable, easy-to-install system means boaters can enjoy their connected lives while on the water, and marine operators can optimize their businesses.”
The TracPhone LTE-1 Global supports wireless and wired connectivity with integrated Wi-Fi so multiple users can connect personal devices.
