PHOTO COURTESY SUZUKISuzuki Motor Corp. reported net sales of $34.8 billion . Operating profit was $2.9 billion. Both numbers were unchanged from earlier forecasts, but the company said profit is expected to decrease for the fourth quarter.
The company said in a statement that it will implement collaboration among the automobile, motorcycle and marine technology segments and respond to business environmental changes, such as carbon neutrality.
In the marine segment, Suzuki had net sales of $564.9 million in the first three quarters, down 17.5% year-over-year. For the third quarter, revenues were $20.09 million, a 9% decline year-over-year, and operating profit dipped 2% to $6.03 million.
Suzuki said the reduced sales were due to moving less small- and medium-sized engines, adding that “large-size models are less sensitive to the economy and remained at the same level as the previous year.”
The company also signed a joint research agreement with Shizuoka University to study microplastics as part of Suzuki’s Clean Ocean Project.
